Swim Training and Coaching

Our current swimming sessions in the pool and open water have been suspended whilst the pools are closed and there are restrictions on social distancing. We are still running our live online land-based swim strength and conditioning sessions using resistance bands and weights to help you improve your technique and maintain your strength in the water. 

Swimming is a fantastic low-impact, all-round body workout and being able to move confidently through the water is an incredible feeling. With both group and 1-2-1 sessions catering for complete novices and those who are more experienced, we have something that will help you achieve your goals. 

Our sessions are front crawl based and are suitable for anyone who wants to develop their technique, improve their fitness and be faster and more efficient swimmers.

We run five different types of sessions, three based in the pool, a land-based swim specific strength and conditioning session and a lake based session. The pool sessions take place at Chesham Moor Gym and Swim in a stunning open air pool that is heated all year round and has a very low chlorine level. All of the sessions are limited in size to ensure all participants have a quality workout and that the instructor is able to give each person individual feedback.

BeXtrifit Group Swim

BeXtrifit group swim sessions are sessions for adults (over 16's) designed to improve your front crawl technique, increase your fitness and build on your speed and endurance. Triathletes and non-triathletes can benefit from joining like-minded people in a fantastic atmosphere and see a difference in your swimming! 

The sessions are between 1500 and 2500m in length depending on your ability, but if you can swim 2 lengths of front crawl we would love you to join us as the sessions can be adapted to suit your ability, whether you are the fastest of the slowest there! 

The sessions are Mondays 7:15pm-8:30pm and Wednesdays 7:45pm-8:45pm.

You can pay for the sessions as PAYG (£12) or one of our packages which make the sessions better value for money (Please see Pricing page). 

Swim specific strength and conditioning

Using resistance bands and weights, we run land based, swim specific strength and conditioning sessions which are designed to complement the front crawl swim sessions or can be used as an alternative if you are unable to get into the water. The sessions are suitable for all abilities including beginners. 

There are a lot of movements in the sessions that replicate the same movements as swimming and can help to improve your technique, build your strength and avoid injury. 

We run two classes which are delivered online via Zoom. The sessions are live sessions so you still get the feedback from the coaches, but are done from the comfort of your own home! The sessions currently run at 7:15pm on Mondays and 09:30am on Saturdays.

Beginner Swim Courses

The beginner courses are great for anyone who would like to learn front crawl or struggles to do more than 2 lengths continuously (for example if you are completely out of breath after each length). The beginner course will focus on building up your confidence in the water and helping you to relax whilst building up the basic technique points of the front crawl stroke.

The courses are run over 6 weeks and we will gradually develop the stroke from scratch. The groups are small to ensure all participants have the best experience possible and that everyone can work at their own pace.

All beginner courses take place at Chesham Moor Gym and Swim and there are courses running all year round. The majority are on Wednesdays (7:00-7:45pm) with a couple on Mondays (7:15-8:00pm). Please click on "Book Now" to check the availability and dates of the next courses. 

1-to-1 Sessions

A 1-to-1 session is ideal if you can't make the group sessions or would prefer to work on something specific about your stroke. During each session, we focus on what you want to get out of the session so each one is unique to the individual and their aims. Sessions are available for all abilities and can be used for building confidence in the water, learning a new stroke or correcting and improving an existing stroke.

We can offer 60 minute or 30 minute sessions at Chesham Open Air Pool which is heated all year round and has very low chlorine levels. 

Sessions are available on Wednesdays 8:30-9:30am, 12:30-1:30pm and 6:30-7:30pm and on Thursdays 6:30-7:30pm.

Open Water Coaching

Being able to have the confidence and the skills to swim in open water opens up an incredible range of opportunities. Once you are comfortable in the water, there is often a sense of exhilaration and it is a wonderful feeling swimming in a lake or river on a beautiful day. It is also a key part of a triathlon and the more at ease you can be in the water, the better your triathlon experience will be.  

Our open water sessions are designed for people who can already swim front crawl, but are new or not confident in the lake. The sessions normally last 90 minutes, but we spend a part of the session learning how to correctly put on wetsuits and how to get into the water safely before working on getting comfortable in the water. 

We make sure that everyone is happy before moving onto the next part and work at each participants pace.
